Thoughts or prompts? What do you use your brain for these days?
First of all, I’m not entirely anti-AI. It’s revolutionized our lives and made so many tasks quicker and easier WHEN.USED.THOUGHTFULLY.
What I find troubling is that most people don’t use it as a tool. They use it as a crutch. They have begun relying heavily on it to let them off the hook even for those not-so-mundane tasks.
That brings me to the old: what we don’t use becomes obsolete.
When we sit or stand for too long, our legs need a minute to start working again. When we stare into our screens for 10 hours, our eyesight takes longer to adjust to distant objects. Our muscles atrophy from being in bed for a month because of an injury.
Knowing all of this, can you imagine what happens to our brains when all we do is prompt? We’re not wired to be machines and yet, many people are morphing into human-machine hybrids, heavily leaning on AI.
My question is: have you found yourself yet in this weird state of brain laziness, where you reach for your AI companion to do even the tasks you once did effortlessly: like texting your friends, answering a personal email, or writing a birthday card?
What happens once we become totally dependent on AI? AND is our brain truly even working if we outsource our thinking?
There’s no denying that AI is simplifying our lives and making us more productive. But is it also making us lazy, unable to focus, problem-solve and have original thoughts all together?
